Our regular guests will know that summer time has arrived (we hope!) when the tipi at East Jordeston takes pride of place on the main lawn of our house. It’s been absent for the past two summers (did we have a summer last year?) since the last attempt to raise the tripod on the previous set of poles found them dried out and crumbling under the strain. However, this year we have sourced some fine new 9 metre Douglas fir poles from the beautiful Forest of Dean and Phil has spent many hours preparing and sanding the superbly fine specimens for their new vocation!

Last weekend was the perfect weather for erecting the tipi and here it is! It’s a beautiful structure and when the fire is lit inside on summer evenings it’s a perfect place for a relaxing ‘pow wow’. We end the evening quite ’smoked’ and feeling in need of a shower but it’s a magical time and hopefully a wonderful memory for our summer guests!
